Disney Plus, Disney’s newest on-demand streaming service set to rival Netflix, Apple, and more!

What is Disney Plus (Disney+)?

“Disney+” is a brand new streaming service that will offer fans a new way to experience the unparalleled content from the Disney’s iconic entertainment brands, including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and more!

What will Disney Plus include?

-Walt Disney Animation Studios:

  • The entire Disney Animation Signature Collection on debut on the first day of launch.
  • Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2, a documentary series showing the hard work and imagination that go into making one of the most highly anticipated Walt Disney Animation Studios features of all time.

-Pixar Animation Studios:

  • All Pixar Animation films will be available within the first year of launch, including theatrical shorts.
  • Toy Story-based projects Forky Asks a Question, an animated short series, and the short film Lamp Life centered around Bo Peep. Finally answering the questions about where Bo was since we last we saw her.
  • SparkShorts,” the Pixar Animation Studios short film series designed to discover new storytellers from across the studio.
  • Monsters at Work: Inspired by the characters of Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., this animated series picks up six months after the events of Monsters, Inc. and follows Tylor Tuskmon, an eager and talented young mechanic who works on the Monsters Inc. facilities team but dreams of working his way up to the Laugh Floor.

-Marvel Studios:

  • Various Marvel films will make their way to the platform throughout the year, inducing Captain Marvel which will launch on day one, and Avengers: Endgame soon after.
  • The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, a live-action series with Anthony Mackie returning as Falcon and Sebastian Stan reprising his role as the Winter Soldier
  • WandaVision, a live-action series with Elizabeth Olsen returning as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany reprising his role as The Vision.
  • Loki, a new series starring Tom Hiddleston centered around the god of mischief himself.
  • Marvel’s What If…?, the first animated series from Marvel Studios and takes inspiration from the comic books of the same name. Each episode will explore a pivotal moment from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turn it on its head, leading the audience into uncharted territory.

-Star Wars:

  • All Star Wars films will roll out within the first year of launch.
  • Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian, the first ever live-action Star Wars (8 Episode) series, premieres at launch. Following a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
  • Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk are joining forces once again for a new show based on Cassian Andor and his adventures prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series will be returning with twelve all-new episodes.

Walt Disney Studios:

  • An extensive movie library of endlessly enchanting films like: Mary Poppins, Pirates of the Caribbean, Alice in Wonderland (2010), and much more will all be available on day of launch.
  • Live-action Lady and the Tramp. A re-telling of the 1955 animated classic.
  • Noelle Nick Kringle (Bill Hader) is first in line to become Santa Claus, but he struggles at every step of the way. His younger sister Noelle (Anna Kendrick) enjoys all the perks of being a Kringle without any of the expectations or responsibility. As the holiday draws near, the pressures of being Santa become all too much for Nick, who disappears just weeks before the big day. Now it’s up to Noelle to scour the globe to find him, bring him home, and save the Christmas season.
  • Timmy Failure: tells the story of Timmy, our quirky, deadpan hero, who along with his 1,500 pound polar bear partner, Total, operates TOTAL FAILURE INC., a world-class detective agency.
  • Togo: based on a true-life adventure, when an epidemic of diphtheria breaks out in a remote Alaskan town, causing countless children to fall gravely ill. As the crisis grows more desperate, the village leaders realize their only hope lies with one man and his lead sled dog, Togo.
  • Stargirl: An average sixteen-year-old who is content to fly under the radar until an new student named “Stargirl” shows up at his high school, turning his and everyone else’s world upside down, forever changing the way they see themselves and each other.

Disney Channel:

  • 5,000 episodes of Disney Channel content, and 100 Disney Channel Original Movies will stream on at launch. Including Duck Tales, Ravens Home, Boy meets World, and more!
  • The Phineas and Ferb Movie: a new animated adventure centers on Phineas and Ferb as they set out across the galaxy to rescue Candace who has been abducted by aliens and has found utopia in a far-off planet, free of pesky little brothers.
  • High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: A 10-episode series, follows a group of students as they countdown to opening night of their school’s first-ever production of “High School Musical.”

These are just some of the highlighted titles to say the least. Additionally, all 30 seasons of The Simpsons will be available on the service on day one. In the service’s first year, audiences will also have access to family-friendly Fox titles like The Sound of Music, The Princess Bride and Malcolm in the Middle as part of an impressive collection of more than 7,500 television episodes and 500 films including blockbuster hits from 2019 and beyond.

When will it be available? How much will it cost?

Disney+ will launch in the U.S. market on November 12, 2019. Following its U.S debut, Disney+ will rapidly expand globally, with plans to be in nearly all major regions of the world within the next two years.

Disney+ will be priced at 2 option: $6.99 a month Or $69.99 a year.
